What Geo Switcher does

Geo Switcher shows a country, currency and language selector on a Shopify store and suggests the matching market to visitors. It is installed by the merchant (“you”) and runs on your storefront.

Data about your customers and visitors

• Country detection uses Shopify’s own storefront endpoint. The visitor’s IP address is handled by Shopify and never reaches our servers.
• Visitor choices (the market they picked, or that they dismissed a suggestion) are stored only in the visitor’s own browser (localStorage / sessionStorage). We don’t set cookies.
• Statistics: when turned on, the storefront sends an event type (e.g. “suggestion shown”) and two country codes through the Shopify App Proxy. We store only daily totals per store, event and country. No IP address, user agent, customer ID, email or order data is stored.

Geo Switcher does not access customer, order or payment data in your Shopify admin.

Data about you (the merchant)

We store your shop domain, the access token Shopify issues for the app, and your plan. Your settings are stored in your own Shopify store as app data. Billing is handled by Shopify.

Retention

When you uninstall the app, the access token is erased immediately and Shopify removes your settings. After Shopify’s shop redaction request (48 hours after uninstall), the store is marked as redacted and no further data is recorded. The remaining daily totals contain no personal data.

Sub-processors

Hosting: Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany). No other third parties receive data.
